Know Your Rights Rapid Responder
This role requires fluent spoken Spanish language skills, and will be a hybrid role, responsible for carrying out Know Your Rights Workshops and referrals in San Francisco and rapid response and Know Your Rights Trainings with The Alameda County Immigrant Legal and Educational Partnership (ACILEP). ACILEP is a recently-built partnership in Alameda county created to fight deportations, coordinate a network of immigrant advocacy partners to provide trainings to a variety of immigrant communities impacted by deportation and criminalization of immigrants. The ACILEP Rapid Responder is responsible for much-needed base-building and education for immigrant members of our community in Alameda county.
This is a short term position, about 19 weeks, from Feb 15th through end of June. Full time (40 hrs) ideal, but willing to go down to 32 hrs / week if necessary.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
ACILEP Know Your Rights Programing and Rapid Response= 45%
Participate in bi-monthly ACILEP partnership meetings at Centro Legal in Oakland
Schedule, plan and and hold “Immigrant Know Your Rights Trainings” twice a month in Oakland or other Alameda County cities as needed.
Secure or provide language access for community events, educational materials and community resources when needed as part of partnership events.
Hold 3-4 weekly hot-line shifts and provide Rapid Response in case of ICE activity.
SFILEN Know Your Rights Programing, referrals and intensive follow ups = 30%
Schedule, plan and and hold “Immigrant Know Your Rights Trainings” once a month in a SFUSD school site
Support the development of emergency plans and other “intensive follow ups” for community members needing navigation support in San Francisco (3 intensive follow ups per month).
Support Immigrant Rights organizers to advance referral deliverables (2-3 per month)
Support organizing campaigns and membership work in the larger community rights team: 25%
Attend bi-monthly CR team meetings, and take on logistical roles to ensure meeting goes smoothly, as needed
Support language capacity in the team, through simultaneous interpretation and translation of documents when needed
Support CR team in facilitation and logistical needs in our membership meetings
Strong commitment to building Black and Brown unity, social, racial, gender and economic justice
Staff person will be splitting their time between SF and Oakland
Fully bilingual (must be able to staff a Spanish language hotline)
Hours include some evenings and weekends
Salary: $22.50-$26.44 depending on experience. Position includes generous benefits package including vacation, PTO, holidays, full medical, dental, vision and Health Savings Account.
