Who we are: Causa Justa Just Cause (CJJC) is a housing justice and anti-criminalization organization based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, born out of mergers between Black and Latinx grassroots organizations. With new executive leadership, and a reconstructed organizing structure, we’re ready to center campaigning and direct action as the focal point of our work.

What we’re looking for: We’re recruiting to fill two Internal Organizer positions, based in Oakland or San Francisco. This position includes working as part of a staff team, as well as working with CJJC membership, to build a robust multi-racial, multi-generational, multi-lingual movement of working class tenant power. 

Internal Organizers will be supporting membership through their pathway to leadership through coordination of New Member Orientations, Organizing Trainings, Know Your Rights Trainings, and other programmatic work. Internal Organizers motivate and engage member leaders in finding solutions to housing issues through mobilization and advocacy. 

Other duties include:

  • Uses knowledge of local housing policy to assist tenants in navigating issues
  • Conducts one-on-one calls with CJJC membership
  • Maintain member database tracking, keeping member list updated. 
  • Attends and participates in local policy tables, gives policy updates to staff team. 
  • Attends local and regional tenant assemblies and direct actions with coalition allies
  • Provide support as needed to organization wide drives such as annual fundraising appeals and civic engagement 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Commitment to racial justice and language justice
  • Has familiarity with social justice campaign organizing or strategic campaigning
  • Lives in SF or Oakland, or is willing to relocate within the next 3 months. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Multi-lingual; ability to hold discussion and provide tenant support in different languages
  • Ability to communicate effectively, and problem solve, when faced with tenant grievances 
  • The ability to learn and use member database technology (Powerbase or future databases used), Google Suites, and Zoom. 
  • The ability to train member leaders on accessing Zoom and Google Forms. 
  • Create agendas and content for member activities. 

This position includes some weekend work, and hours are based around member schedules, which sometimes fall outside typical 9am - 5pm work hours. Salary range is $50,000 to $55,000 yearly and will be determined by the applicant’s experience. Position includes a generous benefits package including vacation and other paid time off, holidays, full medical, dental, and vision.
